The Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association (HBDA) is teaching dance classes on Monday evenings at Kapolei Elementary School. Classes for the second quarter started on July 7, 2008 and will end on September 8, 2008, for a total of ten Monday evening sessions. Dance classes currently being taught are Nite Club Two-Step, Viennese Waltz and Samba. Registration for these classes is now closed as we have already completed half of the second quarter sessions.
Third quarter classes will start on Monday, October 6, 2008 and end on December 8, 2008. Dances, dates and location for registration will be announced in September.
About the Waipahu Chapter
The Chapter holds classes on Monday nights at Kapolei Elementary School and welcomes beginners and experienced dancers. Dance classes are conducted by HBDA rotating instructors.
The Waipahu Chapter of HBDA has been providing American Social Dance classes since 1969. Over the years classes were held in a number of facilities in the Waipahu area, the last one being at the Honowai Elementary Cafetorium in Waipahu. HBDA has recently made arrangements with Kapolei Elementary School for the use of its cafeteria for HBDA-sponsored dance classes.
The Kapolei Elementary School is well situated to serve the West Side Community - as evidenced by the overwhelming response to our registration efforts this quarter. Since our move we have more than doubled our membership to eighty members. While the majority of our members come from Kapolei, Makakilo, Ewa Beach and Waipahu, we also have members coming from as far as Honolulu, Mililani and Makaha.
